J&K DDC Elections: About 52% Voter Turnout Recorded In 1st Phase
The first phase of the District Development Council election held in Jammu and Kashmir on November 28 witnessed 51.76% voter turnout. The voting was carried out in 43 constituencies - 25 from Kashmir and 18 from Jammu. National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah lauded the participation from citizens despite the unfavorable weather conditions. The elections, which will be held in eight phases, will decide the fate of 1,427 candidates.
