Karnataka HC Nullifies Siddaramaiah Govt's ACB, Pending Cases Transferred To Lokayukta Police
Karnataka High Court disbanded Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on August 11 and reassigned all pending proceedings before the ACB to Lokayukta Police division. The ACB was established in 2016 by the Siddaramaiah cabinet to limit the powers of Lokayukta. The order was issued in response to a Public Interest Litigation filed by counsel Chidananda Aras, advocates' association, and social activist SR Hiremath's Samaj Parivartan society, which challenged the foundation of ACB.
