Maharashtra: Heavy Rains Wreak Havoc; 47 Died, Crops Destroyed
According to reports, atleast 47 people have died due to heavy rains in Maharashtra. The rains have also caused damage to over 7 lakh hectares of crops. Maharashtra's Pune, Aurangabad and Konkan areas have witnessed heavy rainfall since October 12. Reportedly, over 21,000 people were shifted to safer places. The state's Relief and Rehabilitation Minister said that he would request a compensation from the Central government for the farmers.
