Mother Of One, Saima Ubaid Becomes Kashmir's First Woman Power Lifter

Saima Ubaid has become the first Kashmiri woman to win a gold medal in a powerlifting competition and choose professional powerlifting as a career. Interestingly, a mother of one, Saima clinched the gold by lifting 225 kilograms in the first women powerlifting competition organized by Jammu and Kashmir Powerlifting Association. Moreover, trained and supported by her power-lifter husband, Saima said she wanted to create a benchmark for the women who compromised due to societal pressure.
