Type-1 Diabetic Children More Susceptible To COVID Complications
US-based Arkansas University researchers have opined that for children with inadequately regulated Type-1 diabetes i.e. 9% higher haemoglobin A1c levels, the risk of COVID-related complications and death increases tenfold. Their study revealed that such COVID-affected children might need an endotracheal tube for respiration. Besides, they also become more susceptible to pneumonia and septic shock besides death. The study aims to enable children and their families to regulate in-person activities amidst the pandemic cautiously.
