UN Report Reveals 7,348 Disasters In 20 Years; Climate Change To Blame
A United Nations (UN) report titled 'The Human Cost of Disasters 2000-2019' has revealed that a whooping 7,348 disasters were recorded between 2000-2019 as compared to 4,212 disasters between 1980-1999. The UN cited climate-change as the reason behind the spike. While the number of floods were accounted to 3,254, the period witnessed over 2,034 storms. Data also revealed that Asia faced highest (3, 068) disasters and, China (577 disasters) bagged the first spot among countries.
