World's First 3D-Printed 'Living Ear' Implanted Onto Patient With Microtia
A 3D-printed "living ear" was surgically implanted into a patient who was born with malformed ear. The operation will provide the woman with a fully developed ear manufactured from her own cells. It is still undergoing different safety inspections. 3D Bio is the biotechnology business that developed this process. "We believe this is the first time that a company has printed a whole, living body part," stated CEO Dan Cohen.
