Bihar government on December 2 released the revised COVID-19 test rates for private labs. The RT-PCR test was slashed down from Rs 1500 to Rs 800 and the rapid antigen test, from Rs 400 to Rs 250. However, Rs 300-charge for sample collection from home was intact. The COVID-19 tests at the government facilities will remain free of cost. Few states including Delhi and Gujarat among others have already capped the prices.

BJP National Secretary, Arun Singh announced Bihar's Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi as the candidate for the Rajya Sabha (RS) seat. However, the RS seat from Bihar was vacant for long after the death of LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan. The NDA who won 125 seats in the recent concluded assembly elections, will need 122 votes in the by-poll election conducted on December 14.

RJD chief Lalu Yadav has been booked under Prevention of Corruption Act for trying to lure Bihar BJP legislator Lalan Paswan. The FIR was lodged after an audio-clip surfaced in which the RJD chief had called the legislator from the jail. Moreover, a probe has been ordered on how Lalu got access to phone in jail. Meanwhile, Lalu Yadav has been shifted from RIMS' Director's bungalow to the paying ward.

Lalu Prasad Yadav is yet again in trouble for allegedly calling NDA MLAs from jail and promising them ministerial berths. In an anti-Naxal operation by CRPF unit named 'CoBRA', three Maoists, including zonal commander Alok Yadav, have been killed in Bihar's Gaya district. The unit also recovered two rifles - an AK series and an INSAS. About 100 km from Bihar, the encounter occurred in the Barachatti forest area during the early hours of November 22. The bodies of the Maoists have been recovered from the encounter spot.
During the Chhath Pooja at Chhapra's Mubarakhpur Ghat on November 20, a man open-fired celebratory shots, causing injuries to 7 people, of which 2 are critical. Accused Pranav Kumar Singh had come out of jail 12 days ago and has four other criminal cases registered against him, said police. The injured are being treated in Patna Medical College and Hospital. Reportedly, the incident happened when devotees were performing 'Arghya'.
The governor of Bihar, Phagu Chauhan granted an additional charge of the 'Education Department' to the Building Minister Ashok Chaudhary on November 19. Three days after taking charge as Bihar's new Education Minister, JD(U) MLA Mewalal Choudhury quit his position on November 19 owing to corruption allegations. Mewalal was earlier suspended from the Vice-Chancellor post of the Bihar Agriculture University in 2017 over a scam in job appointments. However, he stated that the allegations were not true as no charge-sheet was filed or a court had ordered against him.
