Bihar's first phase of panchayat elections begun on September 24 and voting will be conducted in 12 blocks covering ten districts from 7 AM to 5 PM. About 15,328 candidates filed nomination papers but only 858 have been elected unopposed. Ironically, no one filed nomination papers for 72 posts. The counting of votes will be held in the district headquarters. The second phase of voting will start on September 30.

Bank accounts of two minors in Bihar have been mistakenly credited with Rs. 900 crores. The Branch Manager of Uttar Bihar Gramin Bank took notice of the unusual transaction and immediately stopped the withdrawals from the respective accounts. While Vishwas's account had Rs 60 crores, Asit Kumar's account had Rs 900 Crores. The investigation has begun, and senior bank officials are informed.
Former Congress leader Sadanand Singh, known for winning the Bihar's Kahalgaon constituency nine times, passed away on the morning of September 8. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said, ''He's a skilled politician. I pray to God to give peace to his soul" Former Bihar CM Jitan Ram Manjhi tweeted, ''Today my old friend has left me". "It's an end of a political era," said Congress leader Madan Mohan Jha.

At Bihar's Patna, a rare disease 'Stevens-Johnson Syndrome' has been diagnosed. Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal, a BJP Chief has been suffering from the same disease which causes skin rashes, blisters, and then peel, followed by a fever. “The disease is an outcome of a medicine reaction. Dr. Jaiswal, who was admitted on August 30... is likely to be discharged tomorrow evening,” said Dr. CM Singh, AIIMS-Patna.
Following the prolonged delays due to COVID-19, Bihar's State Election Commission has begun the nomination process for the panchayat elections on August 25, ending on August 31. The elections will be held in 11 phases in every district except those affected due to floods. The phases will kick off from September 24 and will conclude on December 12. The commission will start the counting after two days of voting.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has also extended her hand to support the caste-based census in the country on August 23. Banerjee said, ''I'll not have any problem accepting it. If all parties accept it, Why won't I?.'' Notably, her stance came after the delegation of 10 parties led by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar met PM Narendra Modi in Bihar to raise the demand.

Bihar's Madhubani district teacher Chandana Dutta, is one of the Forty Four individuals that has been selected across India for the National Teacher Award 2021. The award is given to honor the contribution of teachers towards the lives of students. Dutta was selected for the "National Teacher Award" mainly for her contribution in helping young girls from minority communities and low-income families in the field of education.

The Bihar police arrested three accused family members of Anshu Kumari involved in beheading her boyfriend, Prem Kumar. Anshu and Prem were in a relationship for five years, however, they were not accepted by former’s family members. Reportedly, Prem disappeared after meeting his girlfriend on August 3. After the complaint was lodged by Prem’s brother, police found the body of the victim in Gandak river on August 8.

An ancient "Sun stone idol" was unearthed during excavation on the premises of Baba Mateshwar Dham Temple in Bihar’s Saharsa district on July 18. The idol, measured three feet in height, holds two lotus flowers each on one hand. “We have placed the idol in the temple and have begun worshipping it,” said Arun Kumar, temple trust chairman. Reportedly, the idol belongs to the "Pala dynasty (750 AD)".
