About 60% Of Adult Indian Population Jabbed With 1st Dose

Based on e-book by Ministry of Health, 60% of India's adult population is jabbed with the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, made India rank first. Indians who have completed their vaccination schedule are also the highest in the world. All frontline workers have taken the first dose, and 81.1% of eligible frontline workers have taken the second. Rural vaccine center jabbed 62% vaccines, versus urban 36%.

Single-Day Covid-19 Vaccine Touches 1 Crore Mark In India

The Union Health Ministry has confirmed that India has recorded a historic figure of one crore Covid jabs administered to the people until the evening of August 27. This makes it the highest number of vaccinations administered in a single day. "Record vaccination numbers today! Crossing 1 crore is a momentous feat. Kudos to those getting vaccinated and those making the vaccination drive a success," PM Narendra Modi tweeted.

Zydus Cadila: Only Needle-Free COVID Vaccine Gets Emergency Use Approval

Vaccine maker Zydus Cadila's needle-free three-dose Covid-19 vaccine finally got approval for emergency use in India by the Indian drug regulator's subject committee expert. The Ahmedabad-based company had applied for the approval of its vaccine ZyCoV-D, on July 1. Reportedly, the vaccine can be given to adults and children above 12 years of age for the first time in India. Zydus is planning on making over 100 million doses yearly.

India Logs 35,178 New Cases & 440 Fatalities In 1 Day: Covid-19

As many as 35,178 new Covid-19 cases and 440 deaths were recorded in India, on August 18. According to a report by the health ministry, the total number of Covid-positive cases in India stands at 3.67 lakhs while the death toll has reached 4.32 lakhs. The recovery rate stands at 97.52% since March 2020 which remains higher than neighbouring nations. Also, India has received 56.06 crore vaccines so far.

Mumbai Doctor Couple Starts ‘Meds For More’, COVID Medicines For Underprivileged

Raina Ranney and Marcus Ranney, two Mumbai-based doctors and frontline workers have created a "COVID-relief platform" through their initiative "Meds For More" where everyone and anyone can pitch in and help. Their idea is that the leftover Covid medicines can be stockpiled and donated to the needful. "Especially after the first wave of the pandemic, people realized the need to step up and help each other," Dr. Raina said.

50% Bengalureans Will Be Fully Vaccinated In 60 Days, Says BBMP Chief

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta has said that BBMP will vaccinate at least 50% of the population in the city between 45 to 60 days. About 18% have received both doses, while 62% have received only one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. "If we vaccinate 90,000 people in a day it will be considered as 1% of the eligible population," said the commissioner.
