In a gunfight between militants and army jawans, two unidentified militants were killed in south Kashmir's Shopian district, said a senior police officer on October 20. Meanwhile, three army soldiers were also got injured who ''have been evacuated to a hospital''. Reportedly, the gunfight occurred between the army and militants when Army and CRPF launched a search operation in the Cheerbag area of Dragad village.

A collaborative raid by National Investigative Agency (NIA), Police, and CRPF was conducted in 56 locations of 14 districts including Srinagar, Baramulla, Pulwama of the Jammu, and Kashmir region in connection to the terror funding case. Maoists in Chhattisgarh on April 8 released the CRPF CoBRA jawan, Rakeshwar Singh Manhas, who was kidnapped by the Naxals on April 3. The jawan was missing since the deadly clash between the Naxals and security personnel at the Sukma-Bijapur border in the state. Family members of the soldier expressed happiness and thanked the government for ensuring his safe release. Earlier, relatives of Rakeshwar had staged a protest as well. 

In the first terrorist encounter of 2021, the security forces killed three unidentified terrorists in Tral area of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district. Following a tip-off, the joint team of Army, CRPF and J&K Police cordoned off the area. The forces retaliated to the gunshots of the terrorists where they killed three militants in a long battle. Moreover, they have recovered arms and ammunition from the hideout.

Learning from the recent martyrdom of its officers, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) notified the rescue operations for soldiers serving in Maoists-dominated areas.
