Earthquake Of 4.8 Magnitude Jolts Leh’s Alchi
An Earthquake of 4.8 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Leh’s Alchi on September 16. According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the Earthquake exactly occurred 189 km north of Leh’s Alchi. Furthermore, the quake had a depth of 10km below the ground, and occurred at 4:19 am. Notably, NCS is the nodal agency that monitors the earthquake activity in the country.

Earthquake Of 7.6 Magnitude Jolts Papua New Guinea
A day after serious tremors, an earthquake of 7.6 magnitude on the Richter scale shook northeastern Papua New Guinea on September 11. The quake hit Kainantu town at around 6:46 am, and the epicentre was at a depth of 61.4 km. However, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has said that there’s no warning of tsunami in the area. Also, no casualties have been reported so far.

Earthquake Of 3.5 Magnitude Jolts J&K’s Katra
An earthquake of 3.5 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Jammu and Kashmir’s Katra on September 8, informed National Centre for Seismology (NCS). The quake occurred 62 kms East-North-East of Katra at around 7:52 am. Reportedly, the earthquake had a depth 10 kms below the ground. Further details on the matter are awaited. Notably, NCS is the nodal agency of government of India that monitors earthquake activities in the country.

Earthquake Of 6.8 Magnitude Jolts China’s Sichuan; 65 Dead, 16 Missing
In China’s Sichuan province, an earthquake of 6.8 magnitude on the Richter scale hit the mountainous area in Luding county, on September 6. The earthquake set off landslides and shook buildings, killing as many as 65 people and leaving hundreds injured. Moreover, at least 16 people are missing. The earthquake shook buildings in the capital city of Chengdu, which is currently under a COVID-19 lockdown.

Two Earthquakes Of 4.1, 3.2 Magnitude Hit Jammu & Kashmir Regions
In an hour, two earthquakes, of magnitudes 4.1 and 3.2, hit Jammu and Kashmir on the late night of August 24. The epicentre of the quakes was 62 kilometres northeast of the Katra area in the Jammu region at a depth of 5 kilometres, confirmed officials on August 25. Furthermore, no casualties or property damage has been reported in the Union Territory, said the concerned official.

Earthquake Of 5.2 Magnitude Jolts North-Northeast Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh
An earthquake of 5.2 magnitude on the richter scale struck Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow in the early hours on August 20. The quake occurred at around 1:12 am, and had a depth of 82 km. On August 19, a mild earthquake of 3.6 magnitude on the richter scale hit Uttarakhand, which left tremors across the region.
