Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde Announces Toll Waiver For 2 Weeks Ahead Of Ganesh Chaturthi

Ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde has announced a waiver in the toll collection for two weeks. The toll waiver will reportedly be applicable on Mumbai-Goa, Mumbai-Bangalore and also on State Public Work Department roads. The move is expected to benefit a large number of people travelling from the Konkan region to Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg. Supreme Court Refers Shiv Sena V/S Shiv Sena Plea To Larger Bench

Hearing the Shiv Sena V/S Shiv Sena case, the Supreme Court referred the case relating to the claim over Shiv Sena to a constitution bench. On August 23, the Apex Court also asked the Election Commission, not to pass any order regarding the plea of Eknath Shinde over the symbol, until August 25. The larger constitutional bench will consider the plea of Uddhav Thackeray over party claims on August 25.

Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde took a day out and witnessed a  Dahi Handi celebration organised by a legislator- Geeta Jain in Bhayandar, on August 19. Furthermore, during the devotional day out, Shinde announced first pro-Govinda League (PGL) saying, "We have declared Dahi Handi as an adventure sport and the inaugural edition of the PGL will be held in Bhayandar,” Besides, CM also attended a couple of Dahi Handi celebrations.

Maharashtra Cabinet To Approve 44% Hike In Metro 3 Colaba Bandra Cost

After Cabinet expansion, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde will hold its first cabinet meeting and likely to approve Rs. 33,405.82 crore from Rs 3,136 crore, a rise of Rs 10,269.82 crore for metro project. The 44% hike in the budget will be for Metro 3 Colaba Bandra SEEPZ project, on August 10. Reason behind cost escalation is that Metro 3 stations have to accommodate eight coaches, besides expensive labour-accomodation charges.

SC Directs EC To Hold Decision Over Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena Symbol Plea

The Supreme Court, which reviewed the plea of Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena, over symbol battle, asked the Election Commission not to take any decision for now on the Eknath Shinde faction's plea. The bench led by CJI NV Ramana directed the EC to hold the decision regarding the symbol grant on Shinde's plea until next hearing. The bench would take a call regarding the Maharashtra political crisis on August 8.

Shiv Sena Pune Unit Chief Arrested Over Attack On Shinde's MLA

Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena Pune unit chief Sanjay More and five others were arrested for attacking an MLA from Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena. On August 3, police blamed More and five unidentified people for the alleged attack on Uday Samant's car, in Pune.  The assistant commissioner of police (Swargate division), Sushama Chavan confirmed the arrest after the rebel Shiv Sena MLAs filed an FIR for the attack.
