Zomato's Much Awaited IPO To Launch On 14th July 2021
Zomato bags the 78th position among the top firms in India by market value as it announces a post-money valuation of Rs 59,623 crore. The food giant has set the offer price for its IPO at Rs 72-76 a share. The share sale (IPO) of Zomato will be open for subscription from 14-16 July. Meanwhile, Zomato is expecting to make a rough profit of Rs 15,000 crores post its IPO.

Six Cows Died, 12 Severely Sick Due To Food Shortage In UP's Etawah
About six cows were found dead and 12 severely sick at a gaushala (cow shelter) in UP's Etawah district on June 28. Although the cause of death remains uncertain, the shelter workers said that the animals are dying due to food shortages. Manish Yadav Patre, Sankat Mochan Balaji temple's manager (who runs the gaushala) blamed the authorities for not releasing funds for the cows to be taken care of.

Mumbai's Mother-Son Duo Serves Over 22,000 Meals During Pandemic
Mumbai-based Heena Mandavia and her son Harsh have been distributing meals to the needy people for over one year, operating from their restaurant's kitchen. Their charitable drive started during the first lockdown and they have managed to serve over "22,000 meals, 55,000 rotis and 6000 home-made sweets". The mother-son duo has also raised money that amounts to lakhs with the help of volunteers and donations from around the world.

Rs 11 Cr PLI Approved For Food Processing Sector
The Union government gave a nod for a Production Linked Incentive scheme worth Rs 10,900 crore in the food processing sector. The scheme will generate over 2.5 lakh jobs by 2026-27 and enlarge the food processing capacity. Moreover, incentives worth Rs 2 lakh crore have been approved for 13 sectors. 931 Mn+ Metric Ton Food Wasted In 2019, India Wasted 50Kg/Head: UN
The United Nations Environment Programme’s Food Waste Index Report has revealed that over 931 million metric tons of food were wasted worldwide in 2019. The report added that nearly 61% of food is wasted every year at household levels. While the food waste in India was recorded as 50 kg/person, it was as high as 82 kilograms in Afghanistan. The UN has estimated that about 690 million people were affected by hunger in 2019.
