Gang-Rape

Haryana’s Kundli police arrested four accused migrant labourers for raping and killing two minor sisters at a village in Sonipat. The 14-year-old and 16-year old victims after being raped were forced to consume insecticides. The case happened on the intervening night of August 5 and August 6. The victims were rushed to the hospitals however, one was reported dead on arrival while the other died during treatment.

Post poll violence in West Bengal, several women have approached the SC for justice. A 60-year-old women has accused the TMC workers for being allegedly gang-raped in-front of her six-year-old grand son. As per her statement, five TMC workers barged into her house on May 3, looted valuable objects and threatened her to bomb. However, she also alleged that the local police refused to record her complaint.

A 22-year-old domestic staffer was gang raped by her Facebook friend and 24 other on May 3 in Delhi.  Reportedly, the 23 -year-old accused lured her to meet his parents for marriage but took her to forest and raped after which she was dumped near Badarpur border. The case surfaced after the women approached the police 9 days after the incident. The police arrested the prime-accused on May 14. 

In the Badaun rape-murder case, the National Commission for Women member Chandramukhi Devi has made a shocking statement. Chandramukhhi said the incident would not have happened had she avoided to go out in the evening. "I tell women again and again that they should never go out at odd hours under anyone's influence," she added. Calling the incident “most heinous”, Chandramukhi also appealed for strict action.

In a terrible incident, a 50-year-old Anganwadi worker was gang-raped and murdered in UP’s Badaun district. The post mortem report revealed that she died due to excessive bleeding as an iron rod was inserted into her private part, and her ribs were also damaged. The victims son blamed that a priest along with two others dumped her mother’s body in front of his house at night. The police have filed a case against all three accused.
