Extortion Case: FIR Against Former IPS Param Bir Singh, 5 Other Cops
An FIR against senior IPS Param Bir Singh, five more police officers, and two others for extortion by the Mumbai Police said an official on July 22. In exchange for withdrawing cases against him, the accused allegedly demanded Rs 15 crores from a builder who then registered a complaint at the Marine Drive Police Station. Reportedly, the builder's two partners were also arrested for conspiring with the police.

15-Yr-Old Boy Represents India At Italy's Sailing World Championship
Padidala Vishwanath, son of a daily wage laborer represented India in the Optimist World Sailing Championship 2021 at the Riva Del Garda in Italy. The 15-year-old was selected in the junior boy's yachting team for the competition that lasted from June 30 to July 10. IPS and Director of Telangana residential social welfare school, RS Parvin Kumar recognized Padidala's passion for sailing and encouraged him, his father said.

IPS Officer Charged With Sedition Over Hatching Plan Against Govt
After being suspended in the first week of July for a disproportionate asset case, the Chattisgarh police have now registered a sedition case against IPS officer GP Singh, officials said on July 9. The police stated that evidence of promoting enmity and hatching a plan against the government was found in documents during the raid. According to Raipur SSP Ajay Yadav, the investigation is under process.

35 Maha IPS Officers Owe Crores For Overstaying In Govt Quarters
In a shocking revelation, 35 incumbent and retired Indian Police Service officers owe the Maharashtra government Rs 3.82 crore in penalties for continuing to live in official housing after being removed from their postings. Interestingly, two of them are former top-cops of Mumbai Police, one of whom is now a two-term BJP MP. Notably, the defaulters list also includes several high ranking police officers who are currently in service.

TN Forms Committee To Probe Sexual Assault Charges Against DGP Das
The Tamil Nadu Government has created a six-member committee to probe the sexual harassment charge over DGP (law and order) Rajesh Das. UP: FIR Filed Against Two IPS Officers As They Lobby for Transfer
The UP police on September 23 booked two IPS officers, Ajay Pal and Himanshu Kumar, against the alleged charges of lobbying for the posting and transfer. The FIR has been lodged under the Prevention of Corruption Act on September 23. Reportedly, the evidences against the accused officers were gathered from their calls and chats history. Besides, three journalists have also been named in the FIR.
