Kanpur Teacher Assaulted By Parents Over Harsh Punishment To Kid, Video Goes Viral
A video is surfacing on the micro-blogging site, X in which a man, along with a few others barged into a teacher's office and thrashed one of the teachers. The incident is of Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur, where a teacher was being assaulted, forced a student to do sit-ups as punishment. Following this the student told this to his parents, to which his father gets aggressive in the school.

1984 Anti-Sikh Riots: 5 Persons Arrested For Burning Down Building Which Charred 3 Persons To Death
In connection to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in Kanpur, five more persons have been arrested by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Uttar Pradesh police, on June 23. The 1984 anti-Sikh riots claimed the lives of 127 people. The recently arrested accused were allegedly responsible for burning down a house which charred three people to death. The accused have now been sent to a 14-day judicial custody.

IIT Kanpur Student Drowned In Ganga, Confirms UP Police
In Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur, an IIT student identified as Chanchal Kumar Meena drowned to death in River Ganga, confirmed police on June 19. As per PTI, ACP Kernalganj Tirpurari Pandey said, "Two students of IIT Kanpur had drowned while taking bath in river Ganga. One of them was saved, while the other one drowned." Notably, a group of 10 IIT-Kanpur students went to the Atal Ghat at the Ganga Barrage.

Kanpur Clash: Violence Erupts Between Police & Members Of Minority Community In UP
In Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur, violence broke out in the Becongunj area near Yatimkhana, between member of a minority community and police, on June 3. Reportedly the violence erupted after police baton-charged the locals. Around six persons were injured in the clash, and at least two shots were fired in during the incident. PM, President Kovind To Visit Paraunkh Village In Kanpur, Official Release
President Ram Nath Kovind and PM Narendra Modi are scheduled to visit Pathri Mata temple at Paraunkh village in Kanpur, UP, on June 3. As per official statement, the duo will be visiting Dr. B R Ambedkar Bhawan around 2 pm, which will be followed by a visit to Milan Kendra at 2:15 pm and will attend an event. Notably, Paraunkh is the ancestral village of President Kovind.

2 UP Cops Terminated For Tipping Off Vikas Dubey In 2020 Bikru Massacre Case
Uttar Pradesh policemen Vinay Tiwari and KK Sharma have been terminated from service after being convicted for tipping off Kanpur gangster Vikas Dubey about the raid, which led to the death of eight police personnel in 2020. Reportedly, the officers informed Dubey about the impeding raid against him, giving him a leverage to plan an ambush against the police. Dubey and his alliances were all killed in police encounters later.

Devotees Offer Prayers Together At Temple, Mosque With Common Entrance In Kanpur
Amid a fresh wave of communal violence across India, devotees in Kanpur are sending out a message of religious harmony. In Kanpur's Tatmil Chowk, a Hanuman temple and a mosque share one common entrance. A temple priest shared, "Aarti and Azaan take place with cooperation of both communities." Owaisi, who also visits the mosque to offer prayers, says that there is a sense of brotherhood among all the devotees there.

Sahara Employees Lock Themselves In Office After Company Failed To Pay Depositors
In a bizzare incident, the agents and employees of the Sahara India Family imprisoned themselves in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur, on March 15. Reportedly, the company had not paid the depositors for a long time. “For years, none of our depositors have been paid. In such a situation, the depositors are behaving badly towards the agents,'' stated an agent. Notably, the regional police had to intervene to resolve the matter.

PM Narendra Modi campaigned for the BJP in Kanpur, on February 14. Amid the ongoing second phase elections, PM Modi addressed the rally and said, "Voting turnout in second phase in UP points at BJP returning to power again". Kanpur Bus Accident: PM Modi Expresses Condolence To The Lives Lost
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 31 condoled the loss of lives in a tragic road accident in Kanpur, and wished speedy recovery to the injured. In a tweet, Modi said that he is very sad to learn about the accident and expressed condolences to the families of deceased persons. At least six persons died and several others were injured when a bus lost control and mowed down bystanders.
