PM Modi Meets Former Kenya PM Odinga, Expresses Commitment To Strengthen Ties 

On February 13, Prime Minister Narendra met ex-Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga and expressed to strengthen the India-Kenya relations. The former PM is on a private visit to India and discussed several issues. "I fondly recollect my past interactions with him in India and Kenya," PMO tweeted. After three-and-a-half years PM Modi met the ex-Kenyan PM and also conveyed his best wishes for his good health and future endeavors.

Kenya's Long-distance Runner Agnes Tirop Stabbed To Death

The 25-year-old Agnes Tirop, famous as Kenya's long-distance runner has been stabbed to death by her husband at home, said Athletics Kenya over Twitter on October 13. The police said the search is going on to find Tirop's husband after her family accused him of the crime. Tirop is known for winning bronze medals in the women's 10,000 meters at the world championships in 2017 and 2019.

India Wins Silver In Long Jump At World Athletics U20 Championships

India's Shaili Singh won a silver medal at the World Athletics U-20 Championships in the women's long jump in Kenya's Nairobi on August 22. Meanwhile, Sweden's Maja Askag bagged gold, jumping 6.60m against Singh's 6.59m and Ukraine's Mariia Horielova won bronze with a jump of 6.50m. This's the third medal of India, including a bronze in the 4x400m mixed relay team event and a silver in the 10,000m racewalking.

India Wins Silver At the World U-20 Athletics Championship

The 17-year-old Amit Khatri from India won a silver at the World U-20 Athletics Championship in men's 10,000 metres race walk on August 21 in Kenya's Nairobi. Khatri took 42 minutes 17.94 seconds to win silver while Kenya's Heristone Wanyoni won the gold and Spain's Paul McGrath won the bronze for his country. On the win, Khatri said, ''It's not the result I expected but I am happy.''

Brigid Kosgei Holds On To London Marathon Title

Kenyan marathon runner, Brigid Kosgei, won the London Marathon 2020 title on October 4 with a timing of two hours and 18.58 minutes. Despite heavy rains, the runner managed to finish ahead of others.
