India and China are set to hold 10th round of commander-level talks on February 20 to discuss the disengagement process along the LAC. Organised Disengagement Of Chinese PLA Starts In Ladakh's Pangong Lake
The Chinese Defence Ministry on February 10 stated that India and China had started the organized disengagement process along the Pangong lake area in the eastern Ladakh. Reportedly, the disengagement initiated after both the armies arrived on a consensus at the ninth round of commander-level talks. However, the Indian officials have not given any statement until now. Reportedly, the border standoff continued since May 2020.

Ladakhs' Only LPG Plant In India Operated Completely By Women
The only LPG plant in Ladakh which provides fuel to over 50,000 army troops is run by an all-women crew. Interestingly, the plant located near Leh delivers a major portion of 40% of its total refill to the Indian defence establishment. Moreover, the all-women crew having 12 members ensures all task from the production lines to managing the security. Notably, it is the only LPG unit in India which is operated completely by women.

Centre Clears 8 Hydropower Projects Of 144 MW In Ladakh, Kargil
The Central Government has cleared eight new hydropower projects on the Indus river system in Ladakh. While the earlier projects in the region had a collective capacity of 113 MW, the new HEP projects will be capable of producing 144 MW of electricity. Moreover, three of the projects, amounting to 56 MW capacity, will be coming up in the Kargil area. However, the construction is yet to begin after getting the mandatory clearances.

China Expresses Anger On US, Asks Not To Meddle In Sino-Indian Issue
The Chinese ambassador to India, Sun Weidong, on January 6 expressed his anger towards the remarks made by outgoing US envoy Kenneth Juster on India-China border tension. Sun told the US to stop interfering in the India-China border issue. In his farewell speech, Kenneth Juster had stated that the US has contributed significantly towards the security of India and its people against the Chinese aggression along the border.

India-China Talks To Resume After New PLA Commander Completes Formalities
As China has appointed a new commander for PLA Western Theatre, the ninth round of military talks between China and India may remain halted for some more time. Reason being, the newly-appointed commander, Gen Zhang Xudong, will first complete his military familiarisation at the border. An Indian official said both the countries are likely to propose a written agreement at the next meeting to end the ongoing border tensions.

Ladakh: First Meteorological Centre To Be Inaugurated On December 29
A Meteorological Centre will be opened in the Union Territory of Ladakh on December 29. The establishment in Leh would be virtually inaugurated by Union Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, with Ladakh Lieutenant Governor RK Mathur. At an altitude of 3,000 metres, the centre will study climate and weather. Besides, it will also harness solar energy. Moreover, it aims to guide tourists with weather updates.
