Lightning Kills Boy, Leaves 3 Injured: Maharashtra

A 15-year-old boy was killed and three other minors were injured after lightning struck them when they climbed a tree in search of a mobile phone network in Maharashtra's Palghar district, on June 29. According to Rahul Sargang (revenue officer), the four boys were stuck under a heavy rainfall while grazing cattle, meanwhile, they climbed a tree and that lightning hit them. The injured ones are undergoing treatment in a rural hospital.

Water Tank Ruptures in Andhra Pradesh, Washes Away Crops

Standing paddy fields and chili crops got washed away in the Penchikalapadu village of Andhra Pradesh, after a water tank ruptured September 26. According to Srinu, a farmer, the same incident took place last month as well, resulting in huge losses. “It is the fault of the engineers who did not rebuild the bund properly after last incident. We request the government to compensate us for our losses," Srinu said.

Karnataka to receive heavy rainfall from September 6 to 10

IMD Alerts Regions of Karnataka; Heavy Rainfall to be Expected from September 6

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has alerted the coastal regions of Karnataka for heavy rainfalls from September 6. The IMD director C S Patil stated that the coastal regions including Dakshina Kannada and Uttara Kannada might receive heavy downpour till September 10. IMD has also predicted an isolated rainfall till September 7 in Belgaum, Dharwad and Gadag.
