Odisha Govt Bans Fircrackers; Extends Night Curfew Till Nov 1

To protect the health of the citizens amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Odisha government on September 30 banned the sale and usage of firecrackers during this festive month. Besides, the government said that the night curfew will continue in urban areas from 10 PM to 5 AM between October 1 to November 1. However, the curfew in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack will start from 8 PM between October 11-20.

Centre Asks Maharashtra & Kerala To Implement Night Curfew

The Centre has asked Maharashtra and Kerala to implement a night curfew in areas with high COVID-19 cases after the country-wide numbers rose to 32.6 million with 40,000 new cases daily. The celebration of Onam in Kerala has led to the state accounting for 60% of India's total cases. "More efforts would be required to arrest the increase in infections," the Home Affairs Ministry stated on August 26.

Karnataka Govt To Impose Night Curfew; Schools To Reopen In Phased Manner

Night curfew will be imposed across Karnataka and border districts of Kerala and Maharashtra from 9 PM to 5 AM, announced the state’s CM Basavaraj Bommai. The decision has been taken to prevent the surge in Covid-19 cases. Moreover, the state government has decided to reopen schools for classes 9th to 12th from August 23. According to the government, the educational institutes will open in a phased manner to avoid overcrowding.

Rajasthan Lifts Weekend Curfew As Active Covid-19 Cases Slump

The government of Rajasthan has lifted the weekend curfew from July 11 owing to a decline in Covid-19 cases. Theaters, training centers, tourists’ movement, marriage ceremonies, indoor and outdoor games are now open to the public. Meanwhile, theatres will be open with 50% capacity. Zero cases were reported in the last 24 hours in 16 of the state's 33 districts, as per reports.

South Africa imposes strict lockdown for 14-days to tackle the COVID-19 Delta variant surge. President Cyril Ramaphosa on June 27, banned all types of social, political and religious gatherings, including the sale of alcohol. Considering lockdown, only 50 people are permitted to attend a funeral. Meanwhile, only take-away or deliveries from the restaurants are allowed. However, the night curfew has been imposed from 9 PM to 4 AM.

Karnataka Govt Announces Night Curfew In Bengaluru; Extends To 7 Other Cities

Karnataka government has decided to extend the night curfew in eight cities of the state beyond April 20, as the state is witnessing a dire number of COVID-19 cases. CM BS Yediyurappa called for an all-party meeting scheduled on April 18 to discuss various issues on the steep increase in COVID-19 cases and regulations. CM Amarinder Singh Announces Night Curfew In Punjab Till April 30

Punjab CM Amarinder Singh has announced to enforce night curfew in the state till April 30, from 9 PM to 5 AM. Initially, the curfew was imposed in 12 districts but now it has been extended to the state. However, the government has strictly imposed a ban on public gatherings such as funerals, cremations and weddings. The violators will be apprehended under the Disaster Management Act and Epidemic Act.

Night Curfew Imposed In Pune; All Major Public Places Shut For 7 Days
