'Air Polluters' Fined By Authorities: Greater Noida

Private contractors and other organisations found to be in violation of norms and laws to combat air pollution were fined Rs 3 lakh by the Greater Noida authority, on September 3. The amount collected is directed to be put into the authority's bank account. The authorities have also warned that if the mistake is repeated, the penalty would be doubled.

CCI Fines Maruti Suzuki Rs 200 Cr For ''Anti Competitive Conduct''

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has been fined Rs 200 crore for getting involved in ''anti-competitive conduct'' by the Competition Commission of India (CCI). The CCI found in its investigation that MSIL forced its dealers not to offer extra discounts beyond the prescribed limit of the company. The company also took the help of Mystery Shopping Agencies (MSAs) to spy on dealers and had a policy of imposing penalties.

RBI Imposes Fine Of Rs 50 Lakh - Rs 2 Crore On 14 Banks

The Reserve Bank of India on July 6 imposed a monetary penalty on 14 Banks, considering the deficiencies in regulatory compliance under the Banking Regulation Act, 1949. However, the highest penalty of Rs 2 crore was imposed on the Bank of Baroda, whereas the lowest of Rs 50 lakh was imposed on SBI. Besides, the other 12 banks have to pay Rs 1 crore to the RBI.

35 Maha IPS Officers Owe Crores For Overstaying In Govt Quarters

In a shocking revelation, 35 incumbent and retired Indian Police Service officers owe the Maharashtra government Rs 3.82 crore in penalties for continuing to live in official housing after being removed from their postings. Interestingly, two of them are former top-cops of Mumbai Police, one of whom is now a two-term BJP MP. Notably, the defaulters list also includes several high ranking police officers who are currently in service.

Telangana Mandates Mask At Public Places; Imposes Rs 1,000 Penalty

In the wake of increasing COVID-19 cases, the Telangana government has directed the officials to impose Rs 1,000 penalty on people failing to wear face mask. On April 11, order mandated donning face mask in all public spaces, work spaces and all means of transport. Failing to abide by the aforementioned regulations, violators will be punished under the Disaster Management Act, 2005. The state recorded 3,187 COVID-19 cases on April 11.
