Delhi Pollution Levels Decreases Amid Development: Arvind Kejriwal

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal addressed Publix and said, Delhi witnessed a dip in the pollution, despite development. Addressing a gathering at Thyagaraj Stadium on the occasion of World Environment Day, Kejriwal asserted that both PM 2.5 and PM 10 levels "fell by 30 per cent" in 2022. Arvind Kejriwal said whenever development happens, it is accompanied with pollution due to felling of dust, construction and other issues.

Centre To Completely Phase-Out Single-Use Plastics By June 30

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) stated that directions have been issues at Central and State levels, to compeletly phase-out single-use plastic items by June 30. Manufacture, stocking, sale and use of several single-use plastic items with low utility and high littering potential are prohibited from July 1. Furthermore, consent will be revoked to those industries that fail to comply with the orders.

Pollution Board Imposes Fine On Jaggery Units In UP

The Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board, on March 17, slapped a hefty fine of Rs. 25,000 on jaggery manufacturing units, for causing pollution. As per Press Trust of India, the UPPCB conducted a drive on night of March 16 and found 20 jaggery units in Muzzafarnagar, burning plastic wastes. Air Quality In Delhi Stays Under 'Very Poor' Category With AQI Of 353: SAFAR

AQI of Delhi remained in the 'very poor' category, on January 21, with an AQI of 353. The AQI of Delhi on January 22 will remain in the 'very poor' category and is likely to rain on January 22 and 23, resulting in an AQI improvement, said SAFAR. "As regards to Delhi, moderate fog is reported," IMD tweeted. Due to dense fog and poor visibility 21 trains are running late.

Air Quality In Delhi Stays Under 'Very Poor' Category With AQI Of 318: SAFAR

The AQI of Delhi remained in the 'very poor' category, on January 20. According to SAFAR, the national capital's AQI was recorded at 318. The AQI of Delhi for the next two days will remain in the 'very poor' category and is likely to rain on January 22 and 23, said SAFAR. Meanwhile, Noida's air quality and Gurugram's air quality remains in the 'very poor' category with AQI at 306.

NGT Issues Notice To TN Govt Over Increasing Air Pollution In Chennai

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on December 10, directed the Tamil Nadu Government to file an action report, over Chennai pollution. The NGT bench, headed by Adarsh Kumar Goel ordered to form an action plan to prevent air pollution and worsening air quality.  The bench also asked to file a detailed report for the same in the next hearing. The NGT decision came on the petition filed by LG Sahadevan.

Delhi's AQI Remains Under 'Very Poor' Category: SAFAR

Delhi's air quality, on November 29, remained in the "very poor" category with a 370 Air Quality Index (AQI). Moreover, Mathur Road and Delhi University's AQI are at 406 and 416, respectively, reported to be "Severe Category" by SAFAR.  AQI of Gurugram (369) and Noida (391) are also worsening under the "very poor" category.  However, slight improvement is expected on November 29-30, due to high wind speed.
