Writers Hold Discussion Over Bengali Literature On Its Relevance In Social Media Era
During the Kolkata Literature Festival, several authors and writers discussed the relevance of Bengali literature in the age of social media. One of the poets Srijato Bandyopadhyaya said, "Covid-19 and news of deaths in the past two years have made us aware about the futility of the long term plans." Another writer Pracheto Gupta stated, "populism is no yardstick for determining the relevance of a creative piece of work".

Union Minister Calls Rabindranath Tagore 'Dark-Skinned', Receives Backlash
Union Minister Subhas Sarkar on August 18 stated that Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore's mother did not cradle him in her arms in childhood because he was "dark-skinned".
