Republic Day Parade

Honouring the 50 years of the 1971 Bangladesh liberation war, the 72nd Republic Day Parade will witness a vintage transport aircraft - Dakota. Previously employed in the 1971 war, the aircraft will soar Rajpath's horizon as Bangladesh's military contingent marches across. The COVID-affected 72nd Republic Day parade will be held under several modifications including curtailing the parade route by 50% as the jawans will march till the National Stadium only. Earlier, they used to march till Red Fort. Maintaining social distancing, the January 26 Parade will also have shorter contingents of mask-donned 96 jawans instead of 144 jawans. Additionally, in a first, the CRPF will display its own tableau.

The Centre has approved the UP government's request to exhibit the tableau (Jhaanki) of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya during the Republic Day parade.
