UP Govt Shuts Schools & Colleges For 3 Days Following Heavy Rainfall

Uttar Pradesh government on September 16 stated that all schools and colleges will be closed for the next three days in the wake of continuous rainfall in the state. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) also warned against more rainfall and said it would continue in north India until September-end. Reportedly, the rains have taken the lives of 14 people in the state so far.

Milkmen Donates Rs 1 Lakh To School Facing Financial Crisis: Assam

About 600 milkmen from Sitajakhala cooperative society donated Rs 1 lakh to Sitajakhala Higher Secondary school, Jagiroad Assembly constituency, to help the school recover from its financial crisis in Assam. The group has extended support to the school by contributing just 15 paise per litre on sale from each milkman. "The school would not be facing such issues had they been provincialized," as per reports.

UP Govt To Reopen School, Colleges And Universities

Considering the decline of COVID-19 cases, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has approved the decision to reopen schools for class 12 students with 50% capacity in the state from August 16. Moreover, the CM also allowed the reopening of colleges and universities from September 1. Yogi government has directed universities and colleges to begin their entrance exams from August 5.

India: 63% Of Parents Notice Hike In School Fees Says Report

According to a survey, 63% of parents said that the schools their children attend hiked fees despite classes being held online amid the pandemic. The survey registered responses of over 26,000 parents across 303 Indian districts. The report revealed that 33% of parents saw a 20% hike in fees, 23% witnessed over 10-20% hike, while 7% saw a 0-10% hike, whereas 3% found a reduction. Besides, 22% found no fee hike.

Madhya Pradesh: Bomb Found in a School, Note Threatens 7 Other Schools

On September 05, a crude bomb was found in TDS school in Mehgaon village of Madhya Pradesh. The bomb, accompanied by note was found in a surveillance-free area. The note stated that there were bombs in seven other schools, belonging to the proprietor of the school. The police alerted the bomb disposal squad and the investigation is underway. The police suspect it is a mischief by one of the rivals of the proprietor.
