Shubman Gill beat his compatriot Mohammed Siraj and England opener Dawid Malan to win the ICC Men's Player of the Month Award for the second time in the year. Gill was named as the Player of the Month in September 2023 for his exploits in India's Asia Cup triumph and their ODI series win against Australia. Moreover, Gill is the only Indian cricketer to win the title, twice.

Ahead of the ICC World Cup 2023, Indian batter Shubman Gill has been hospitalized amid his unstable health conditions. The cricketer is admitted in a Chennai hospital and will miss the opening match, as well as the further matches of the World Cup. The BCCI issued an official statement, " The opening batter is set to miss the team's next fixture against Afghanistan in Delhi on the 11th of October."

Big drawback to the Indian Cricket Team, as Shubhman Gill is down with fever, likely to be dengue. According to sources, the BCCI is likely to make a decision about his participation in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 opening game. "Shubhman has had a high fever since landing in Chennai. His tests are being done. He will have tests on Friday and a call will be taken," said BCCI.

Indian skipper Shubhman Gill has been fined with a hefty penalty for questioning the umpire's decision in the World Test Championship (WTC) Finals against Australia. The Cricket Council fined Gill with 115% of his fees, of which 100% is fine penalised for the Indian team for slow over rate, and 15% for questioning the umpire. As per the Indian Cricket Council, Gill was found guilty for violating Article 2.7
