Syrian Islamic State Militant Group Chief Killed In US Drone Attack

Pentagon Central Command spokesperson Lieutenant Colonol Dave Eastburn informed that the leader of Islamic State militant group in Syria was eliminated on July 12. Furthermore, his top aids were also injured in the US drone strike. Reportedly, Maher-al-Agal, the terrorist outfit chief, was riding a motorcycle near Jindayris, when he was attacked. Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also confirmed his death.

Kazakhstan To Hold Astana Talks On Syria After Dec 20

The next round of the Astana talks on Syria is set to be held in Kazakhstan after December 20. The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, Mukhtar Tleuberdi stated that both the Astana process and a meeting of the foreign ministers of Russia, Turkey, and Iran would be hosted by Nur-Sultan. Kazakhstan said that only Russia has sent an official note to attend the talk so far.

COVID Infection Found in Syrian Refugee Camp, 36,000 Under Threat

The United Nations(UN) Refugee agency on September 8, announced the outbreak of COVID-19 in a Syrian camp in Jordan, where more than 36,000 refugees reside. Reportedly, two people tested positive and have been transferred to quarantine wards, while more tests are being conducted. The refugee agency said, “It is a reminder that everyone has been affected, and solutions must be addressed through solidarity and cooperation”.
