Madras HC Recommends Special Quota In Govt Jobs For Transgenders: Tamil Nadu

The Madras HC strongly recommended special quota reservation in government jobs for 'transgenders'. On March 2, Justice MS Ramesh reviewed a petition filed by Saratha, and directed the government to provide relaxation in fitness tests in few jobs and also asked to revise the upper age limit to 45, instead of 29. The HC passed an order reviewing petitions, asking the TNUSRB to make the recommended changes.

Tamil Nadu Govt Announces Tambaram As 20th Municipal Corporation

As per reports, Tamil Nadu State Government has announced Tambaram as a municipal corporation. The announcement came after the approval of Governor RN Ravi on the matter. Furthermore, Tambaram Municipal Corporation has been formed by merging 10 adjacent urban local bodies. Also, an Ordinance was released by the state government to the media. Notably, Tambaram is the 20th Municipal Corporation in the state of Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu Government Reimposes Ban On Public Gatherings

Amid surging cases and fear of second wave of COVID-19, the Tamil Nadu government has re-imposed a ban on public gatherings. The ban will be enforced on religious, social, political, cultural, academic, and other gatherings from November 16. The decision was taken as a measure to tighten COVID-19 health protocols since people showed laxity in following the guidelines. Earlier, a gathering with a footfall of up to 100 people was allowed.

Tamil Nadu: 28-year-old Man Chased And Killed By Four Men

A 28-year-old man was killed by four unidentified men in Tamil Nadu's Ranipet district. The incident happened at a local TASMAC outlet near the Arakkonam New Bus Stand. The victim was identified as Gokul. Reportedly, Gokul was chased by a group of unidentified  men, and then attacked with sharp weapons. Police are collecting evidences and investigation is underway.
