Rafael Nadal announced on social media that he will not compete in the next Wimbledon and the Tokyo Olympics 2020. However, the announcement said that it was a hard decision but after consulting his team, Nadal had to take care of his health for a much better future career. Besides, he also pointed out that his body wouldn't have enough time to recover after a much demanding season if he continued.

Novak Djokovic Defeats Stefanos Tsitsipas, Wins Second French Open
World Champion Novak Djokovic defeated Greece's Stefanos Tsitsipas to win his second French Open as well as 19th Slam. However, Djokovic's next target is to complete all four major Grand Slam and create history after Don Budge and Rod Laver. "Obviously his goal and our goal is to win the Olympics and then win the Grand Slam. That would be the absolutely top of this year," said coach Marian Vajda.

Serena Williams is set to take the full advantage of the open draw at Roland Garros. Naomi Osaka Quits French Open Mid-Tournament, Says She Needs Break
Japanese Tennis star Naomi Osaka on May 31 withdrew from the French Open 2021 tournament stating that she needs a break from the sport. This comes after Osaka was fined Rs 10 lakh for not attending the mandatory news conference following her victory over Romania's Maria Patricia Tig. Citing her mental health as well, the 23-year-old had compared such post-match conferences to "kicking people when they are down".

Veteran Tennis ace Serena Williams on May 8 faced a defeat in her 1,000th tour-level singles match. Serena lost to Argentine Nadia Podoroska in the second round of the Italian Open. She lost the match with a 7-6 (6) 7-5 score in a game that lasted around two hours. The eighth-seed American tennist was competing in her first match after a long break since she last contested the Australian Open.

Amazon Studios is, reportedly, underway to produce a docuseries based on the personal and professional life of tennis star Serena Jameka Williams. The docuseries, untitled yet, will be the product of collaboration between Plum Pictures, Goalhanger Films and Amazon.
