Air India Muscat-Cochin Flights Reported Smoke, Passengers Evacuated Midway
An Air India Express flight reported smoke via slides, leading to evacuation of passengers, on September 14. The flight from Muscat-Cochin had 141 passengers and six crew members on board, who were safely rescued with an assurance of relief flight. Furthermore, no injuries have been reported, confirmed a statement from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Meanwhile, the details of the incident is awaited.

India Signs MoU With Bangladesh To Strengthen Inter-Governmental Railway Co-Op
India and Bangladesh signed an MoU to deepen the inter-governmental railway co-operation between both the nations. Earlier on June 1, Minister of Railways of India and Bangladesh Railway Minister held a meeting to achieve a similar motive. India has also agreed to train Bangladesh Railway employees. This is has been made possible with Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina’s recent visit to India.

Kochi Metros Launches Freedom Ride For Rs 10 On Independence Day
Under the "Freedom Travel" initiative, the Kochi Metro authority launched the scheme, which allows travel to commuters at Rs 10 only. Launched on August 15, as a part of the "Aazadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" travellers can take any distance ticket taken from any station in between 6 am to 11 pm, will be for Rs 10. The freedom ride, in association with MyByk will begin from JLN Stadium.

BEST Extends Rs 1 "Freedom Travel" Plan Till August 31
The Bombay Electric Supply & Transport (BEST) decided to extend the "freedom plan" till August 31. Under the initiative, users can download "Chalo App" and purchase Rs 1 ticket, which can be used to travel any route in the City, with both Ac/ Non-AC buses. Launched on August 1, under the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav', the plan is extended till August 31 and has been used by 1 lakh Mumbaikars.

Akasa Airline Ticket Sales Begin, Operation From August 7
New Indian airline, Akasa Air is all set to take off its first flight on August 7. Ahead of the flight services operations, the sale of tickets on official website and mobile app is available. The initial flights will be in cities; Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Kochi and Bengaluru. From August 7, the airline will run 28 weekly flights between Ahmedabad-Mumbai, and later from August 13, it will start operations for Mumbai-Kochi.

Chhattisgarh Govt Orders 'Sample Checking' Of Passengers Arriving At State Borders: COVID-19
Chhattisgarh government has announced to start checking the samples of passengers traveling into the state, in view of rising number of COVID-19 cases in the state. The samples will be checked at airports and state borders. Reportedly, an antigen test will first be done, and if found positive, an RT PCR test will be done. The state of Chhattisgarh reported 125 Coronavirus cases on June 27.

Saudi Arabia Removes Covid-19 Restrictions On Travel To India, Turkey, Ethiopia, Vietnam
The Saudi Ministry of Interior declared on June 20 that the Covid-19 travel restrictions for its residents had been removed. Turkey, Ethiopia, Vietnam, and India have all had their travel restrictions lifted. The decision comes a week after the Kingdom abandoned several preventative Covid-19 measures, including wearing face masks indoors and requiring confirmation of immunization to access most public locations.

Indian Railways Doubles Maximum Number Of Ticket Limit Booked Per User ID
The Indian Railways has doubled the number of tickets that can be booked per user ID through the IRCTC app and website. With this, users whose accounts aren't linked to their Aadhar, can book up to 12 tickets a month, compared to the earlier six tickets a month. Meanwhile, users whose accounts are linked to their Aadhar can book 24 tickets a month, compared to the earlier 12 a month.
