Teachers Recruitment Scam: ED Files Complaint Against Partha Chatterjee, Arpita Mukherjee & 6 Others

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on September 20, filed a complaint against eight accused including Partha Chatterjee and Arpita Mukherjee in the West Bengal Teachers recruitment scam case. CPI Maoist Activist Samrat Chakraborty Arrested By NIA

CPI (Maoist) activist Samrat Chakraborty alias "Nilkamal Sikdar" was arrested in West Bengal in a case related to setting up units of the outlawed group in Assam, confirmed NIA spokesperson on September 20. Chakraborty (37,) a resident of Seth Bagan Road, North 24 Parganas district, was also known as "Amit, Argha, Nirmal and Nirman". He was arrested from Mahispata, near Narayana School for his activities as a Maoist.

North Bengal University VC Arrested By CBI In Teacher Recruitment Scam

North Bengal University Vice Chancellor Subires Bhattacharyya has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in an alleged 2016 assistant teachers’ recruitment scam. The arrest came after CBI invited him to the office in Kolkata and found him “non-cooperative”. Prior to the arrest, the agency also conducted search operations at his residence. Also, the chargesheet has been filed in the matter.

TMC Leader Raju Sahani Arrested By CBI In Chit Fund Case: West Bengal

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested TMC leader and Halisahar Municipality chairman Raju Sahani in an alleged chit fund case. Reportedly, Rs 80 lakh cash has been seized from his residence in Newton. Birbhum Killing Case: 7 More Accused Sent To 10-Day Police Custody

India's First Underwater Metro In Kolkata Likely To Be Functional By June 2023: West Bengal

Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation (KMRC) said that India's first Underwater Metro will be functional by June, 2023. Out of the project's 16.55 km length, 9.30 km between Sector V and Sealdah is already operational. The remaining 7.25 km will be operational in less than a year's time. The project was initially scheduled to be completed by December, 2021.

CISF Constable Opens Fire At Colleagues In Kolkata; 1 Dead & 1 Injured

A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel opened fire at his colleagues, leaving one dead and another injured, on August 6. The incident occurred in the Indian Museum of CISF Barrack, situated at Kolkata's Park Street, when head constable AK Mishra opened fire with his AK 47 rifle, killing Assistant Sub-Inspector Ranjit Kumar Sarani, and injuring Assistant Commandant Suvir Ghosh. Following the incident, Mishra has been nabbed.
