18% Of India's Total Deaths In 2019 Due To Air Pollution: ISLDBI Report
A report by the India State-level Disease Burden Initiative revealed that more than 1.7 million people succumbed to air pollution in India in 2019. The report said these deaths accounted for around 18% of deaths in 2019 and inflicted around Rs 2.6 lakh crore to economy. Moreover, the mortality due to outdoor air pollution has also increased by 115% from 1990 figure. While PM 2.5 concentration was least in Kerala, Delhi recorded the highest.
