45M People Are On The Brink Of Starvation, Says UN Food Agency
The United Nations food agency, the World Food Programme (WEP), on November 8 said the number of people who are heading toward the brink of starvation has risen to 45 million across 43 countries in the world. ''We've got conflict, climate change, and COVID-19 driving up the numbers of the acutely hungry,'' said David Beasley, WEP Executive Director. Reportedly, $7 billion are needed to avert the global famine.
