Ban On Online Gaming 'Unconstitutional', Says Karnataka High Court
The Karnataka High Court, on February 14, overturns state legislations banning online gambling games. The bench, comprising Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi and Justice Krishna S Dixit, reportedly declared the provisions in question to be ultra vires to the constitution. Notably, The Karnataka government had notified the law banning betting and wagering in online games, including skill-based games like poker and rummy, played for stakes, in October 2021.
