Bangalore: Tejasvi Surya Opposes Naming Streets After Muslim Leaders
After MP Anantkumar Hegde, BJP Yuva Morcha national president Tejasvi Surya on December 31 objected naming 11 streets of Padarayanapura area after Muslim leaders. In a letter to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Pallike (BBMP) Commissioner, the MP said, "Christening roads in Muslim-dominated locality after Muslims reeks of the same communal mentality". Moreover, he urged the commissioner for immediate action against the decision. The decision to name the Muslim dominated ward after Muslim leaders and social workers was taken by former BJP Mayor M Goutham Kumar and backed by corporators KV Munindra Kumar, and Padmanabha Reddy. Initially, former Minister Anantkumar Hegde had opposed the decision. Earlier, BBMP Joint Commissioner M Venkatachalapathy on December 16 notified the decision of naming the streets.
