Bengaluru: Rohingya Refugees Face Exploitation after their Refugee Cards Expire
Expiration of refugee cards for over 40 Rohingya families of Dasarahalli, Bengaluru has forced them to face exploitation. Reportedly, they are being forced to pay "hafta" to the local goons and the garbage contractors to employ them for jobs like "rag-picking" and "garbage clearance". After their license expired in early 2020, the pandemic has further delayed the renewal. Reportedly, UNHRC had assisted the families to emigrate from Myanmar 10 years ago.
