Even After Ban, Bihar Tops Maharashtra In Alcohol Consumption
According to the National Family Health Survey (NFHS) data, Bihar has surpassed Maharashtra in alcohol consumption. Interestingly, Alcohol sale and consumption have been banned in Bihar since 2016. As per reports, 15.5% males in Bihar above 15 years consume alcohol as compared to Maharashtra's 13.9%. However, consumption by women in both states remains equal at 0.4%. Gujarat and Jammu and Kashmir have shown the least levels of 5.8% and 8.8% respectively.
