Maha Hospital Fire: Lapses Found Including No Alarms, Safety-Audits
An investigation in the Maharashtra’s Bhandara Hospital fire incident has revealed that there were many security lapses including a pending fire audit since last two years and the absence of fire-alarms and sprinklers. Also the four-storeyed hospital conducted only one mock-drill in 2016-17 and did not impart training to the staff to use fire extinguishers. Earlier, a fire outbreak at the Sick Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) of the hospital had killed 10 infants.
