Rashmi Samant Becomes 1st Indian Woman To Head Oxford Student's Union
In a first, India's Rashmi Samant has become the head of the Oxford Students’ Union. Winning with a whopping 1,996 votes, Rashmi clocked more votes than total votes of all her opponents. A sustainable energy enthusiast pursuing Masters in Energy System, Rashmi aims to de-carbonise the varsity campus. Reportedly, in her manifesto, Rashmi promised to tackle institutional homophobia, create university lobby for waving residency requirements and removing statues of imperialists from campus among others.
