Uttarakhand To Declare 136 People Missing Since Chamoli Disaster Dead
At least 136 people, who are still missing since the February 7 Chamoli disaster, have been "presumed dead" by the Uttarakhand government. Issuing a notification, the government stated that 70 bodies and 29 human organs have been recovered so far. Reportedly, the government would invoke a special provision to allow authorities declare the missing people dead after an inquiry. "This will help in settling the compensation for the families of those missing," read the notification.
