Vitamin-D Deficiency In Pregnant Women Affects Children’s IQ: Study
A study by Seattle Children’s Research Institute has suggested that mothers with high levels of Vitamin-D during pregnancy have children with higher IQ. The lead author, Melissa Melough, suggested that IQ levels were significantly low in children of black pregnant women since high melanin in skin blocked the UV rays, reducing Vitamin-D production in skin. She advised that although Vitamin-D supplements are not widely recommended in such cases, they can be used to save lives.
