BSP MLA Ramveer Upadhyay Joins BJP Ahead Of 2022 UP Assembly Polls

Former BSP State Minister and MLA Ramveer Upadhyay on January 15, have joined the BJP in Agra "We will make the BJP retain power in the state," said MLA's son Chirag Upadhyay. In addition, first list has been released with 107 candidates, including 21 new candidates, 44 seats for OBC candidates, 10 seats for women and 19 seats for SC. Reportedly, the seven-phased UP elections are scheduled from February 10.

Manual Ticket Counters Of Taj Mahal, Agra Fort Closed: Covid-19

The manual ticket counters of the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort have been closed in Uttar Pradesh's Agra on January 3. ''However, the monuments are not completely closed," said Dr. Raj Kumar Patel, Superintending Archeologist. The decision was taken in view of the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the state. Meanwhile, the UP reported 514 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, reported ANI.

2 Shot Dead In UP's Agra Village Over Water Dispute

In Chitrapura Village of Uttar Pradesh's Agra district, two men, Mahesh and Dinesh, were shot dead on December 16 over a dispute related to water entering their field from another field. Reportedly, they were going to object against this to the family of Kalyan Singh alias Kallu of the same village. Teams have been constituted to arrest the guilty, said Sudhir Kumar Singh, SSP.

Dengue Infects 16 People In Uttar Pradesh's Agra District

The Agra municipality is on high alert after at least 16 people fell ill due to dengue in the district, said Agra's Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Arun Kumar on September 11. Reportedly, six out of 16 patients are in different hospitals of the city and others are ''at their respective homes''. ''We're carrying the door-to-door surveys as per instructions of UP Health Minister Jai Pratap Singh,'' the CMO added.

Night Viewing Of Taj Mahal Set To Open For Public

The tourism department of Agra has decided to open the Taj Mahal for viewing during the night under moonlight from August 21, following over one year. However, only 50 tourists will be allowed in each slot starting from 8:30 to 9, 9-9:30, and 9:30-10 pm. The monument will only open for five days, however, will be shut on Friday.

30-Year-Old Mother Commits Suicide Due To Domestic Violence

Mona Dwivedi, a resident of UP's Agra, shot herself in the chest on July 2 and blamed her brothers-in-law for allegedly torturing her. The 30-year-old inked a letter to PM Modi requesting him to ''ensure the safety of women in their houses.'' Moreover, the mother of two, wrote that she couldn't raise her voice against the prolonged torture as she was afraid of being abandoned by her husband.

UP Police To Handle Cyber Crime At Station Level

The UP Police Department is implementing computer literacy programs in eight districts within the Agra Zone to deal with the increased influx of cybercrime complaints. With this initiative, the UP police hope to be equipped to handle cybercrime at the station level. With imposed lockdown, cybercrime has been on the rise in India. The police are collaborating with CyberPeace foundation to conduct workshops till the end of July.

Agra District Administration Orders To Seal Hospital After 22 Deaths

Shree Paras Hospital in Agra is being sealed after 22 people died from oxygen shortage. The decision came after a video of the hospital owner saying to stop oxygen supply as part of a mock drill surfaced. In the video, the doctor admitted that 22 people died after he shut off the oxygen supply for five minutes. The District administration also assured to book the hospital under the Epidemic Act.
