J&K Allotted Rs 1.42 Lakh Crore Budget By Parliament For FY 2022-23

The parliament has approved a Rs 1.42 lakh crore budget for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for the year 2022-23, on March 23. The Jammu and Kashmir Appropriation Bill, 2022 and The Jammu and Kashmir Appropriation (No.2) Bill, 2022 were approved by Lok Sabha on March 14. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that after the abrogation of Article 370, "you see justice reaching" to the residents of J&K.

While commemorating the two-year anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the repealing of Article 370 has brought nothing but "peace and progress" in the region. Omar Abdullah Says Govt Broke Promises, Did Nothing For Kashmir

Pak PM Offers Talks With India If J&K's Special Status Is Restored

Pakistan PM Imran Khan on May 30 said he was ready to resume talks with India, if the later grants back the special status to Jammu & Kashmir. Khan said strengthening ties with India otherwise would be "similar to turning our back on the Kashmiris". Pertinently, India revoked Article 370 and downgraded J&K to UT from State on August 5, 2019. However, India has always called J&K its integral part.
