Ahead of the Uttarakhand elections, Congress's CEC will hold a meeting for the selection of candidates on January 21, at 4 pm. On taking back Harak Singh Rawat into the party, former CM Harish Rawat said, "I am not angry with anyone." Earlier in 2016, Harak Singh joined BJP along with 10 MLA's. Meanwhile, Harak Singh has expressed his desire to join Congress but former CM is uncomfortable, said sources.

BJP Will Bag 300 Seats In UP Elections, Says Sandeep Singh
Ahead of Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, former UP CM Kalyan Singh's grandson Sandeep Singh has filed nomination on January 19, from 73 Atrauli constituency and claimed that BJP will get a majority of 300 seats. "'Babuji' (former CM Kalyan Singh) isn't here today but I'll serve as he guided," Sandeep said to reporters. Sandeep Singh is also the Minister of State for Education. UP elections are scheduled from February 10.

SC Consider PIL Filed EVMs Usage For Voting, Ahead Of Polls
The Supreme Court considered to hear a PIL against EVMs usage. On January 19, CJI NV Ramana reviewed the PIL, which mentioned imposing EVMs for voting as per 61A of the Representation of People Act is "illegal & unconstitutional" and should be quashed. The petitioner said, the Section 61A is not permitted by Parliament and is not valid. Notably, EVMs are being used tor voting instead of ballot papers now.

AAP President Kejriwal To Announce CM Candidate Ahead Of Goa Assembly Polls
AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal is going to announce CM candidate for Goa Assembly elections 2022. On January 19, the Delhi CM will visit Panaji and announce the CM Face, for the single phased Goa Assembly elections, scheduled on February 14. Notably, political parties will contest for 70 assembly seats in Goa. With the intensified door-to-door campaign, the AAP is said to be a strong contender for the Assembly elections.

PM Narendra Modi To Interact With BJP Workers In Varanasi: UP Elections
Ahead of the UP elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually interact with BJP workers in Varanasi, on January 18 at 11 am. After the announcement of the election, this will be the PM's first political interaction. Meanwhile, all the physical rallies have been suspended till January 22, due to Covid-19. EC Postpones Punjab Assembly Elections To Feb 20
The Election Commission of India (ECI) postponed polling for the Punjab Assembly elections to February 20. Previously the elections were scheduled on February 14, but was rescheduled after a meeting, on January 17. Reportedly, Punjab ministers and political parties asked the ECI to postpone, in view of the Guru Ravidas Jayanti, on January 16. Now, the voting will be on February 20 and results to be announced on March 10.

My Move Caused Bhuchaal In BJP, Says Swami Prasad Maurya: UP Assembly Polls 2022
Ahead of the UP Assembly elections, BJP minister Swami Prasad Maurya quit the BJP and said to announce his next political action on January 14. "My move has caused a bhoochal (earthquake) in the BJP," said Maurya. Furthermore, he said, "I've rejected the BJP, there is no question of going back". Besides Maurya and three MLAs, 10 more MLAs are expected to quit BJP and join the SP soon.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Postpones Press Conference Ahead Of Assembly Polls
Ahead of Assembly polls, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has postponed her press conference which was scheduled for January 12. Priyanka was going to address the press conferences via video conferencing. The Election Commission on January 8, announced the election dates for five states from February 10. Election campaign turned into a stampede during a marathon in Bareilly, UP. On January 4, "Ladki Hun, Lad Sakti Hu" marathon, organised by Congress leader Supriya Aron witnessed hundreds of women, flouting COVID-19 norms and creating a stampede like situation.
