Bengaluru School Receives Bomb Threat, Students Evacuated

The National Hill View Public School in RR Nagar got a bomb threat through email on July 18, and Bengaluru police responded immediately. The school administration moved the kids to a different site as a security precaution after receiving the threatening mail. The bomb disposal team, the sniffer dog team, and the jurisdiction police all arrived at the scene in the meanwhile.

Karnataka Govt Promises To Eradicate Malaria By 2025

Karnataka health minister K Sudhakar said that the centre has given time till 2030 to eradicate Malaria completely. However, the state government has taken a resolution to make Karnataka Malaria-free by 2025. K Sudhakar directed officials to visit places were Malaria is of high risk, and conduct awareness programs. He further stated that, for this, the government needs assistance from non-governmental organisations and the public.

Karnataka Floods: Govt To Seek Financial Assistance From Centre

Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai said that the state will seek financial help from the centre, to assist in the flood-like situation caused by incessant rains. According to a detailed report submitted, the rains caused several houses to collapse, crop losses to farmers, etc. The CM also urged people living in low-lying areas to move to safer places. Meanwhile, CM said that the government is giving compensation to those affected.

Photography Ban In Govt Offices: Karnataka Govt Withdraws Law One Day After Imposition

The government of Karnataka has withdrawn the ban it had laid on photography and videography inside the premises of government offices. The revocation has come as per the orders of CM Basavaraj Bommai. The ban was imposed since a petition claimed that some people harrassed government officials by shooting inside the premises. However, the ban has now been revoked, with immediate effect.

SC Upholds Karnataka HC's Punishment Awarded To 4 Persons For 'Terror Plotting'

The apex court of India confirmed the punishment awarded to four persons involved in a terror plot. The accused were convicted and awarded life sentence, following a 2005 shoot-out in Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. In 2016, the Karnataka HC enhanced the sentence of seven-years imprisonment to life sentence. Reportedly, the shoot-out killing a professor, and left four other injured.

Gauri Lankesh Murder Trial Adjourned Till August 8, Witnesses Examined: Bangalore

The trial for the murder case of activist-journalist Gauri Lankesh, has been adjourned till August 8. A total of nine witnesses were examined, recently. The defense lawyers cross examined the witnesses who were employed with Lankesh. On September 5, 2017, Gauri Lankesh was shot dead in front of her Rajarajeshwari Nagar residence. The trial started on May 27, around five years after the murder.

Red Alert Issued To 7 Districts Amid Heavy Rains, CM Reviews Situation: Karnataka

Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai reviewed the heavy rain situation in the state, over a meeting with district in-charge ministers and deputy commissioners of 13 rain affected districts. IMD has issued red alert to seven districts- Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Chikkamagalur, Shivamogga, Kodagu and Hassan districts. IMD reported that Karnataka has received 94% excess rain, so far in the month of July.

Police Bust Fake Call Centre In Bangalore's Whitefield, Seizes Items Worth Rs 2 Crore

In Bangalore's Whitefield, police raided a fake call centre in Gayathri Tech park, and arrested six persons for allegedly scamming people abroad. Reportedly, the accused posed as bank or Amazon employees. The accused, all hailing from Gujarat, have been detained. The police have also seized items worth Rs 2 crore, including 127 desktops, four laptops, 150 headphones, six iPhones, ten internal hard disks, three luxury cars, and more.
