4 Infants Die In ICU As Hospital Catches Fire In Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh
The government of Madhya Pradesh on November 9, reported the deaths of four infants in the Kamala Nehru Children's Hospital, situated in Bhopal. According to officials, a fire broke out in the hospital's Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU), which is believed to be caused due to a short circuit. Reportedly, CM ordered a "high-level" probe into the incident, with an ex gratia of Rs 4 lakh to the families.

18 Elderly Women Participate in 'Lota Daud'
In an uncommon initiative, locals in Bhopal organised an event called "Lota Daud" on October 12. In the event, about 18 elderly women participated in a race carrying water pots in their hands. The message conveyed to the society through this was about awareness against the evil practice where women had no option but to use open spaces for defecation.

Bihar's Shubham Kumar Secured 1st Rank In Civil Services Exam
Bihar's 24-year-old Shubham Kumar secured the first position in the Civil services exam in his third attempt on September 25. Kumar, a graduate of IIT Bombay, said, ''My father used to motivate me a lot helped in maintaining a positive attitude.'' ''I'd like to work for underprivileged people, '' Kumar added. Besides, Madhya Pradesh's 24-year-old Jagrati Awasthi secured the second position and credited her brother for inspiration.

Bhopal Student Makes Movable Toilet For Patients On Oxygen Support
A student from NIFT Bhopal has designed a compact-sized movable toilet that aims to ease the sufferings of critical COVID patients who are on oxygen support. The wheeled toilet's size is that of a wheelchair and it is equipped with 80-litre flush tank and 100-litre water tank. Designer of the toilet, Pratyaksha Majhe stated that the wastage tank requires cleaning only after 6-7 times of usage.

MP: About 3000 Junior Doctors Demanding Hike In Stipend Resign
Nearly 3,000 junior doctors in Madhya Pradesh on June 3 resigned from their posts after the high court termed their four-day strike "illegal". Earlier, the doctors working in six different government medical colleges have demanded a hike in the stipend and free COVID-19 treatment for them and their families. Although the government had assured a hike, it has not been delivered yet, said MP Junior Doctors Association president.

Bhopal: Raped By Nurse, COVID-19 Patient Died In 24 Hours
In an inhumane incident, a COVID-19 patient who was raped by male nurse at MP’s Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre died within 24 hours. Shockingly, the incident came into public domain a month after the arrest of accused. The 43-year-old deceased was a Bhopal Gas Tragedy survivor. Meanwhile, the police informed that the 40-year-old now jailed accused earlier also assaulted a female nurse of the hospital.

Bhopal Railway Division Converts Trains Into Isolation Coaches
The Bhopal railway division in Madhya Pradesh have turned train coaches into isolation wards as the hospitals in the city are witnessing shortage of beds due to the rise in COVID-19 cases. The 20 coaches, deployed at the Bhopal railway station, will be functional from April 25 and patients with mild symptoms can avail the services. However, the coaches are not equipped with oxygen or ventilator support.

Gardener Takes Swab Samples In MP Hospital As Staff Test COVID+
Giving a health scare, a gardener is taking swab samples for COVID-19 at a government hospital in Madhya Pradesh' Raisen district. Gardener Halke Ram said that since the person responsible for the job has tested COVID-19 positive, he is handling the responsibility in absence of him. Ram is being trained by the hospital staff as well. Other staff have also been trained to tackle the work in case of emergency.

MP Govt Brings Fresh COVID Restrictions, Extends Weekend Lockdown
Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan on April 8 announced new COVID-19 restrictions in the state. The state government has now extended the duration of earlier announced weekend (Saturday-Sunday) lockdown: from Friday 6PM to Monday 6AM. Asserting to control the fresh COVID-19 spike, the CM said, "My intention has never been to impose a complete lockdown." He also stated of creating containment zones in big cities.
