US Court Strikes Down CDC Mask Mandate

US District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle of the Middle District of Florida has struck down the CDC mask mandate for public transport. The judge noted that the mandate exceeded the statutory authority of the CDC. The CDC has recently come under heavy criticism from other experts, mostly Republican lawmakers and ordinary citizens over their stand on mandatory masking, Covid-19 vaccination, etc.

Omicron Cases Likely To Peak In End Of January: Dr. Anthony Fauci

US top Presidential Medical Advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci on December 29, said that the cases of Omicron will likely peak by the end of January. "It likely will be more than a couple of weeks, probably by the end of January," Fauci told CNBC. Data provided by CDC, states that Omicron is estimated to be 58.6% of the COVID-19 variants circulating in the US.

Naegleria Fowleri, a brain-eating amoeba, has been found in the water supply of southeast Texas, and residents of eight cities have been put on alert. With putting restrictions on drinking tap water, the Texas administration has warned people to be careful, and has also issued a water advisory to them. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), these infections are rare but can be deadly.
