Dalit Boy Shot In Leg For Not Greeting Others; 1 Arrested, 1 Absconding

A boy from the Dalit community, studying in 10th class, was shot by his friends in Agra, for not greeting them. The victim was shot in the leg, and is out of danger. Police said that one of the accused has been arrested, while the other is on the run. Meanwhile, FIR has been lodged under section 307 of the IPC and relevant sections of the SC/ST Act.

Uttar Pradesh: Cops Reckon "Jilted Lover" To Blame For Murder Of Dalit Girl

The murder of a 17-year-old Dalit-girl is being investigated by UP police as the conduct of a "jilted lover". Struck with a blunt tool, the girl had an internal damage on her forehead. The post-mortem revealed that she had not been sexually abused. As per police, the couple who reported the corpse said they spotted a man in a red T-shirt and black shorts sprinting away into adjacent fields.

Sub-Inspector Arrested In Karnataka; Forced Minor Man To Drink Urine

Karnataka police arrested a sub-inspector on September 1 for forcing a Dalit man to ''lick urine on the floor''. Reportedly, the incident took place at Gonibeedu police station in Mudigere taluk on May 10. However, the victim was in custody based on villagers' oral complaints about creating confusion between a couple. Besides, the district court has sent the sub-inspector under 14 days of judicial custody on September 2.

Dalit Woman Dies In Police Custody; SHRC Requests Investigation

National Commission for Scheduled Castes has issued a notice to the Telangana government for the death of a Dalit woman, Mariyamma in police custody, due to alleged torture. The notice came after the Telangana State Human Rights Commission got to know about the woman’s death on June 23. UP: Three Minor Dalit Sisters Attacked With Acid In Gonda

In the early hours of October 13, three minor Dalit sisters were attacked with acid in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda. According to reports, the 17-year-old eldest sister sustained 35% burn injuries while the other two aged 12 and 8 got 25% and 5% respectively. Reportedly, the crime took place when the three sisters were sleeping on the terrace in their residence. Further investigation is underway and there have been no arrests yet.
