'Rail Roko': Army Takes Roadways to Deliver Winter Supplies
The army took roadways to ensure the restoration of winter supplies in Ladakh and J&K, after railway services were suspended in Punjab due to the "Farmer Protests". It is reported that the supplies have been delivered successfully, and further assistance will be provided through airways. The "Rail Roko" started by farmers in Punjab against the new farm laws has affected the neighbouring states and the military.

300th Advanced Light Helicopter Rolled out; 35 More To Be Inducted By 2022
The 300th Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH), Dhruv, received its roll-out certificate on September 29 at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Bangalore. The CEO of Helicopter Complex, GVS Bhaskar said, "With over 2,80,000 flying hours, ALH has proven to be a multirole helicopter for Any Mission, Any Place, Any Time.” Currently, HAL has a contract to produce 73 ALHs, out of which 38 are already produced; remaining will be available by 2022.

CAG Disagrees With Upgradation Of 56 Mi-17 Helicopters, Calls It Unproductive
CAG stated that retrofitting 56 Mi-17 helicopters of the Indian Air Force is not a sound decision. Currently operating at limited capability, after upgradation, the choppers will be left with a 2-year life; hence, 223 crore expenditure would be unproductive, stated CAG. Chinese Defence Spokesperson Ren Guoqiang Claims, "US is using Taiwan to control China"
China conducted military drills near the Taiwan strait on September 18, in response to the United States official Keith Krach's visit to the island. Krach is visiting Taipei to meet President Tsai Ing-wen. "The military drills is organised to safeguard the 'national sovereignty' of China," said the China's Defence Ministry spokesperson Ren Guoqiang. "The US is using Taiwan to control China," he added.

US to Fund Training Centre Construction in Cyprus for Border Security
The US on September 12 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to fund a new training centre to be set up in Cyprus. The centre, which will be named Cyprus Centre for Land, Open-seas, and Port Security (CYCLOPS), will provide expertise for rest of the region on border security and non-proliferation. US State Secretary Pompeo said, "We are committed to deepening our bilateral relationship."

Russia Assures India, It Will Not Supply Arms to Pakistan

Pentagon Report Reveals China's Thrust to Double its Nuclear Arsenal
Pentagon has revealed that China is going to double its nuclear weapons, from its current 200s mark, over the decade. The study also pointed to Beijing's ability of completing a nuclear triad soon. The Pentagon further alarmed that China does not need any further addition to its fissile material for doubling the nuclear warheads. The report was surfaced during the US Congress' discussion over the $700 billion Defence Authorisation Bill.

Rajnath Singh Declares Import Ban on 101 Defense Items
Under Atmanirbhar initiative, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh announced a ban on 101 items to boost native production. "Prepared a list of 101 items for which there would be an embargo on the import beyond the timeline indicated against them,'' Rajnath Singh said in a tweet.
