UP Govt Announces Deployment Of MBBS Students For COVID Assistance

Considering the pressure on doctors due to massive surge in COVID cases, the UP government has decided to deploy fourth and fifth-year MBBS students at hospitals. The decision came after the state government announced the cancelation of MBBS exams amid rising cases of infections. Reportedly, the private labs and hospitals will also be used as COVID facilities to increase the medical infrastructure in the state.

Delhi: 37 Doctors Test COVID-19 Positive At Sir Ganga Ram Hospital

At least 37 doctors from Delhi’s Sir Ganga Ram Hospital have tested positive for COVID-19. While 32 are isolated at home, the remaining five have been admitted to the hospital. Reportedly, most of the doctors are young and had taken the vaccine jab as well. The authorities have also started contact tracing. Witnessing spike in the COVID-19 cases, Delhi has reported over 7,000 cases for the first time in 2021.

Fire Blazing Hospital Could Not Stop Doctors From Performing Surgery

An eight-member Russian medical team performed a two-hour long open heart surgery without fearing when the hospital was under fire. Over 120 people were evacuated including the heart patient, with no injuries reported. The 1907-built, only hospital with cardiology department in Blagoveshchensk city, caught fire after a short circuit. The hospital officials blew the smoke out of the operation theatre with an emergency electricity cable.

SC Directs Centre To Offer Breaks To Doctors On Covid-19 Duties

Supreme Court's bench lead by Justice Ashok Bhushan on December 15 suggested Attorney General Tushar Mehta of granting a break to doctors working on COVID-19 duties. Belgium: COVID Positive Doctors Treat Patients To Support Medical System

Madras High Court Terms Admission Of 65 Doctors Illegal

Madras High Court on October 7 cancelled admission of 65 doctors in Postgraduate and diploma courses from May 2017. The court also imposed Rs 30 lakh fine on six colleges of Puducherry. National Medical Commission To Regulate Medical Studies In India

National Medical Commission (NMC) replaced Medical Council of India (MCI) in regulating the medical education in the country from September 25. Reportedly, four autonomous bodies have been constituted to govern education and ethics in the medical field. Former Head of AIIMS ENT Department Dr Suresh Chandra Sharma has been appointed as the chairman of NMC for three years. Earlier, the NMC act was passed in August 2019 to replace MCI.
